12th OCTOBER – NETHERLANDS – The Hiding Place

51Z30-8DTbL._SX298_BO1,204,203,200_Okay so not exactly a children’s book – it had the children and I riveted. I think a autobiography is always so as the author has brilliant authenticity. It is such a beautifully crafted book which allows multi-age engagement which is always a sign of a good book to us. It started a more detailed look at the World Wars and so does not flow in geographical sequence. It is a life changing book in the sense of seeing how ordinary people suffered and yet were courageous. Spoiler alert – not possible to read it without stopping for a good sob… We head off to Japan next…
